Privacy Policy
Thank you for choosing Japatapa (referred to as "the App", "we", "us", or "our"), developed by Venkatesh C L. Your personal privacy is of paramount importance to us. This Privacy Policy outlines our strict practices regarding the collection, use, and protection of information when you use our mobile application and related web services at japatapa.app.
1. 100% Offline & Zero Personal Data Collection
Japatapa is built as an offline-first devotional and prayer utility. We do not require user accounts, logins, phone numbers, or email sign-ups to use the app.
- We do not collect or store your name, email address, physical location, contacts, or financial details.
- All devotional progress (such as japa counts, favorite shlokas, font preferences, and alarm settings) is saved strictly on your local device storage using Android SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device.
2. Device Sensors & Permissions
The App requests only the strictly necessary runtime permissions required for spiritual functionality:
- Proximity Sensor: Used exclusively to detect pocket or hand presence during the hands-free Pradakshina circumambulation counter. No audio, camera, or sensor recordings are captured or transmitted.
- Alarms & Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS / SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM): Used strictly on-device via Android's AlarmManager to trigger your self-scheduled daily japa and puja reminders.
- Vibration (VIBRATE): Used for tactile haptic feedback when counting japa or offering flowers.
3. Advertising & Third-Party Services
To support ongoing development and maintenance while keeping the sacred scriptures free for all devotees, Japatapa displays advertisements powered by Google AdMob.
Google AdMob may automatically collect non-personal device identifiers, coarse advertising IDs, and diagnostic crash data to serve relevant ads in compliance with Google Play Developer policies. For further details on how Google processes ad data, please review the Google Privacy & Terms Policy.
4. Public Domain Sacred Scripture Canon
All Sanskrit shlokas, stotras, 108 Ashtottara Shatanamavalis, and Srimad Bhagavad Gita verses contained within Japatapa are ancient sacred scriptures composed centuries ago by ancient rishis and sages, preserved strictly in the Public Domain under the Indian Copyright Act, 1957.
5. Children's Privacy
Japatapa contains general-audience devotional and educational content. We do not knowingly solicit or collect any personal information from children under the age of 13.
6. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy. Any modifications will be posted directly to this web page at https://japatapa.app/privacy.html.
